Maddison aspires to be Marine Biologist when she grows up.

She has written lots of stories, but this is the first story that she would like to share.

Maddison’s goal is to promote awareness, care and respect for nature.

“Me and Zukini” is an enchanting tale penned by an imaginative 8-year-old author, Maddison, whose passion for saving trees and safeguarding nature shines through every page. Maddison’s deep-rooted hope is that her stories will not only educate readers about environmental challenges but also ignite a spark in them to take actionable steps towards conservation.

At the heart of this story is Mona, an inquisitive young scientist with an insatiable curiosity about the world around her. Her life takes an exciting turn when she befriends Zukini, a charming wood turtle. Through this newfound friendship, Mona discovers the detrimental effects of pollution on natural habitats and the dire consequences it has on creatures like Zukini. Driven by her desire to make a difference, Mona embarks on a mission to spread awareness, ultimately deciding to share Zukini’s story with the world through her book.

“Me and Zukini” is more than just a children’s book; it is a powerful reminder from a young author that we all, irrespective of age, possess the ability to impact our environment positively. Maddison’s vision is to inspire a new generation of eco-conscious individuals, starting with her readers. This book is a testament to the power of youthful optimism and the belief that small steps can lead to significant change in preserving the beauty and balance of our natural world.

Maddison loves outdoors, and came up with the idea when walking home from Nature Camp. There she met a turtle ‘Houdini’ who was rescued and is now part of the Nature Centre’s education and stewardship .
